Can browser cleaning delete my saved passwords?
Right now, TuneUP gives you four targeted options when it comes to tidy browsing: Chrome Cache, Chrome Cookies, Edge Cache, and Edge Cookies. (And yes, we are actively hunting down support for other popular browsers to add to TuneUP in future updates, so stay tuned!).
If you are worried about losing access to your accounts, here is exactly what happens when you hit clean:
- Cleaning Cache Files: This is completely safe. It simply wipes the temporary files, images, and scripts your browser hoards to load pages faster. Cleaning your cache will not delete your saved passwords, and it will not log you out of your accounts.
- Cleaning Cookies: This routine targets the session tokens websites use to remember who you are. Clearing your cookies will log you out of about 99% of your active web accounts (so make sure you actually know your credentials before running it!). However, it will still absolutely not delete your saved passwords stored securely inside your browser's built-in password manager.
The Bottom Line: Your login credentials are perfectly safe with TuneUP. We only evict the digital clutter and tracking cookies, leaving your actual passwords completely untouched.
