How to safely uninstall programs and remove leftovers
Remove apps with the Uninstaller, clean the files and registry entries they leave behind, and use Force Delete when a normal uninstall fails.
Uninstall a program
- Open Uninstaller from the sidebar.
- Find the app by name, size or install date and select it.
- Confirm. TuneUP runs the program's uninstaller and waits for it to finish.
Leftovers
After the uninstaller exits, TuneUP scans for folders and registry keys the program left behind. If it shows Leftovers found!, review the list and remove them.
Force Delete
If an app's uninstaller is missing or broken, use Force Delete. It removes the app's files and entry without running its uninstaller, so only use it for programs that can't be removed normally.
Tips
- Close the program before uninstalling it.
- Some uninstallers ask for a restart; restart before removing leftovers.
